We knew we needed to seek change...

For over a decade, we lived in the heart of downtown Fort Wayne, Indiana—our home was in an area where houses were tight together and all we had was a small patch of grass and a pavered patio. Our hearts longed for open land. We had always envisioned acres of rolling hills, a place where we could raise a family connected to the land and live a slower, more intentional life. With Cody coming from generations of farmers, we knew that farming would be in our future somehow, someway—we just didn’t know when. That moment came in 2020, during the height of the pandemic. One night, we stumbled upon a documentary about a different approach to farming—regenerative farming. At the time, it wasn’t a household term, but as we watched, it all clicked. We saw firsthand how, for nearly a century, industrialized agriculture has worked against nature, prioritizing efficiency and mass production over sustainability, animal welfare, and real nutrition. We learned how monocropping, chemical inputs, and confinement-based livestock systems weren’t just depleting the soil and harming ecosystems but were also failing to produce truly nourishing food. We couldn’t unsee it. The more we researched, the more we knew—regenerative farming was the way forward. If we wanted to be part of the solution, we had to do something different. We felt deeply called to restore the land, raise animals with care, and provide our community with clean, nutrient-dense food that people could trust.
